Intratumoral Injection Shows Antitumor Activity and Safety in Sarcoma - Targeted Oncology

Image
An intratumoral therapy, INT230-6, demonstrated its dual-mechanism antitumor activity as a monotherapy and in combination with ipilimumab (Yervoy) in patients with metastatic sarcomas, according to results from an oral presentation at the 2022 Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS) Annual Meeting. 1 As part of the open-label phase 1/2 IT-01 study (NCT03058289), INT230-6 showed its capability to target cancer cells directly and cause an immune antitumor response in soft tissue sarcoma (STS) when injected into a tumor. The treatment was well tolerated and greater than 95% of the active agents remained in the tumor relative to intravenous dosing at 1 to 6 hours. "Preliminary data suggests that INT230-6, as a monotherapy or in combination with the immune checkpoint blocker ipilimumab, demonstrates direct tumor killing in STS and elicits an anti-cancer immune response within the injected tumor," Matthew Ingham, MD, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology a

Withdrawal from Benzodiazepines: Symptoms, Safety, and Treatment - Healthline

Image
Benzodiazepines are a powerful class of medication used to treat anxiety, insomnia, and panic disorder. Examples of benzodiazepines include alprazolam (Xanax) and diazepam (Valium). While they can quickly relieve symptoms of anxiety and panic, these drugs pose a high risk of dependence. In other words, your body may rely on benzodiazepines to function if you take them frequently and for more than a short period of time. When you stop taking them, you may experience symptoms of withdrawal. Dependence and withdrawal can happen to anyone, even if you take your medication exactly as instructed. Consequently, experts recommend you take benzodiazepines for no more than 2 weeks if you use them daily. If you only use them once every few days, you may be able to take them for up to 4 weeks. If you take benzodiazepines infrequently, such as once a week or once every few weeks to treat panic attacks, you can take them for a longer period of time. This is because inconsistent use doesn't pose

How To Choose The Best Cough Medicine - Forbes

Image
In the same way that there are different types of coughs, there are two different types of over-the-counter cough medicines to help ease acute coughing caused by a cold or flu. Antitussives: Otherwise known as cough suppressants, antitussives block the cough reflex by decreasing activity in the part of the brain that causes coughing. Some brand names include Triaminic Cold and Cough and Robitussin Cough. Expectorants: This type of cough medicine works to thin mucus, which can in turn help your cough move mucus out, clearing your airway. Two expectorant brand names include Mucinex and Robitussin Chest Congestion. The type of cough medicine that will work best for you will depend on the issue you're dealing with. "An expectorant is typically used for a wet cough (caused by the common cold, bronchitis, etc.) to help clear congestion from the respiratory tract, whereas an antitussive is used for a dry cough to control the cough reflex," explains Niraj Patel, D.O.,
